Blake's Artwork in LUCY'S

Last month, we mentioned that Blake was asked to provide a selection of his artwork for a new Swiss-based arts and cultural Magazine, Lucy's.

We now can share a link to the publication's recently launched website.  Click Here.

The magazine is available both online, and in print.

Preview: selections from Blake's print series in "Lucy's"

My work is being featured in a new Swiss publication, titled Lucy's.  I am not fluent in German, but as I understand it, the article pertains to "the culture of drug use in Switzerland."  We'll have photos of a printed copy later, but here's a low resolution preview of the first two pages for now (the full article features 6 of my prints/ drawings) :

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Blake was going through "the archives," and discovered this piece!

It's the wood-block Zoe used for her print "Zach Galifianakis in the Bathroom" (the last image in this post.)  As you may recall, Zach was a bit of a muse for her, back in 2010.

WEBSITE AND OTHER COOL STUFF!!!

Blake and Zoe have been quite busy!

Zoe is currently working on several projects - each scheduled to be shown over the course of her upcoming exhibitions, including Currency at the San Francisco Mint.

These pieces include several new animatronic creatures, more books, and prints.  In addition to all of this, there will be new "Foamless=Homeless" material... including 'Government Sponsored' N.A.A.F. (National Association for Foam Fortification) informational booklets and safety kits!!!

[sorry we're holding back a bit on details/ images this time... but it WILL be cool]

Blake has been assisting with these projects, in addition to establishing his own website.

The site, www.blakepetersonart.com/ is an online portfolio, which collects a selection of Blake's 'fine art' pieces (including collaborations), in addition to several of his commercial projects.  Please take some time to explore the site (and watch the videos!), and come back again - as it will be continually updated.

Blake will also have some more preview images of new work here on the blog soon.

AND - in the near future, there will be some more web-specific updates...

Puzzlin' Evidence (NEW WORK)

Blake and Zoe are working on a new project!!!

(yes, at the same time as Blake is making new prints, building a website, and working on new scarves, AND Zoe is making new prints, mo' mole rats, more photographs, books, et al.  ... we are very productive)

New Large Silk Piece

Zoe had a delivery from Glasgow earlier this week.  It's a large-format print version of her lithograph, which will be a part of her upcoming group exhibition in May.

Exploding Man

Blake finished his piece (a draft was shared on Wednesday.)

Here is a preview of the final work, which will be available for sale shortly.  It's a giclée print, with added drawing, mounted onto three panels.  The panels are intended to be displayed askew (as on the preview below.)

Each panel is approximately 20 inches tall by 47 inches wide

Blake and Zoe will have a few more updates in the next upcoming days (including changes for this blog, our book projects, and our online presence...)

Works in Progress

Blake is working on a few new projects, (both independently and as an assistant to Zoe - more on her project(s) later)

He's been slowly adding new broadcasts and mixsets (with the elusive Joethelion) to his mixcloud, and there will be more to come soon... including soundtracks of original material for installations.

Blake also has been working on a new LARGE piece, which will be separated by at least three (3!!!) different panels.  It isn't quite finished yet, but here's a low resolution sample of the work as it exists now.  He is also in the middle of creating an artist book, collecting the entire series of 'exploding blob people' into one volume.

Note: Blake merged the pieces together so it would also fit nicely onto the blog...

Light Headed

Blake completed a landscape this week.  The piece is a bit of an oddity as, for the past year - he has been primarily focused on figure-based imagery.

The original (as well as prints*) is available on his Saatchi Page

Updates, New Work, and Side-Projects

We have been quite busy for the past few days... and it's looking like it's only going to be busier as the month goes on!

Zoe is preparing for her group exhibition this May in San Francisco while completing her print series, FOAMLESS = HOMELESS, and the Naked Mole Rat projects

She is also working with a group of other printmakers for a MAPC show in Wisconsin.

Additionally, we should be having a show (just Blake + Zoe) this Spring in San Francisco.  We haven't decided on the opening yet, but it will be listed on the blog when everything is confirmed.

Blake added another piece to his Saatchi Portfolio.  It is quite different from his most recent works, while still maintaining his particular method of drawing only in independent layers of CMYK

Additionally, Blake has been updating his Mixcloud Page...

Also, we realized that some of our videos, which have been posted onto Vimeo through the GSA have not been shared here.  These are higher quality streams than on Youtube (and do not have annoying commercials obstructing the pieces).

The two videos featured are:

Trans-Atlantic by Blake Peterson (2012) and Chit-Chat Tummy by Blake Peterson & Zoe Phillips (2012)

A New Drawing

Blake finished a new drawing, and prints of it are available through his Saatchi page...

The original is currently not for sale.

It is a large graphite (mechanical pencil) drawing over a thin, yellow watercolor wash.  The title, "Object Permanence" is taken from one of the fundamental concepts of developmental psychology.

Essentially, it is the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they can't be directly experienced (heard/seen/touched/tasted)
