Zoe's Inflatables!!!
Zoe completed her first inflatable sculpture, "Honey I Love You, But It'll Never Work Out."
We took some shots of its first inflation...
The nylon sculpture is over three feet tall. The figures are the same characters as featured on Zoe's book, "Mostly Relationships."
(Link to other books in series.)
Proper installation views will be available soon.

Exploding Man
Blake finished his piece (a draft was shared on Wednesday.)
Here is a preview of the final work, which will be available for sale shortly. It's a giclée print, with added drawing, mounted onto three panels. The panels are intended to be displayed askew (as on the preview below.)
Each panel is approximately 20 inches tall by 47 inches wide
Blake and Zoe will have a few more updates in the next upcoming days (including changes for this blog, our book projects, and our online presence...)

A New Drawing
Blake finished a new drawing, and prints of it are available through his Saatchi page...
The original is currently not for sale.
It is a large graphite (mechanical pencil) drawing over a thin, yellow watercolor wash. The title, "Object Permanence" is taken from one of the fundamental concepts of developmental psychology.
Essentially, it is the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they can't be directly experienced (heard/seen/touched/tasted)

New Projects
A Few Updates:
Over the upcoming weeks we will be producing a series of books. Each book will contain a set of drawings by Zoe Phillips, organized by a specific theme.
I am in the process of finalizing the set of drawings for the first publication.
We will have more detailed information about the project this week, once we have printed the covers for the first book.
We will have the new fabric pieces available for sale soon. Getting them hemmed is taking a little bit longer than usual.
I have also been working on a few new images for something else...

Redux...
The Glasgow School of Art MFA Degree Show is slowly approaching (I'll be documenting install / prep work starting this Wednesday through the show itself)... so I've decided to share a few images of prints that almost certainly will be included as a part of my submission...
Each is a slight reworking of a previously 'finished' work - which is why they look familiar.
I should add; reworking/ revising finished material is not something that I normally do, but I was dissatisfied how each looked when printed onto paper (hence the tweaking of the color & a little of the line.)

Jet Lag
A few more new things...
Blake is back in Glasgow, working on a few new projects (including getting over horrible jet lag) & Zoe is finishing up her house piece* and starting up a few new courses
*we have a few preview photo's of this but we didn't want to overload this one post with too many pictures...
Back on Friday, Blake installed his series of new prints (including two new images he drew in San Francisco) at Red Bistro.
Here are some photo's of them at the location...

New Projects
Apologies for the lack of updates on the blog... Blake and Zoe have been quite busy over the past few weeks, just for a quick rundown:
• Blake is still re-editing, doing color alterations, and soundtracking the stop-motion animation that we posted a preview image from earlier
• Zoe is starting on a new project in San Francisco, using Doll Houses and some 'unique' materials (more on that later)
• Blake finally set up a SoundCloud Account, to host his mixes... he just posted something from a few days ago, click here
• Blake is finally putting the finishing touches on a collaborative image that he was working on with Zoe earlier (preview below), called "Business Birds." He just needs to 'amp up' the colors a bit more - basically, he's going to make the bird colors 'more like candy' and a bit fluorescent - instead of the more muted ones seen below:
• Blake is also working on a project relating to memory, beginning specifically with his experience with a statue of Saint Lucy, a preview image of the first part of the image is below the "Business Birds". It will be print that combines digital & serigraph techniques with added sculptural portions.

Some works in progress...
Blake is nearing the completion of the "Truck Driver Prints" (still not officially titled) - which form a significant portion of his "Truck Driver Project" (also - not the final title)
The entire project includes audio, video, and a large selection of photographs Blake took while driving across the Midwest. In the near future, a small sampling of the photographs will be presented here on the blog. He is still sorting through the 500+ pictures he took while visiting the US this past March.
Without giving away too many of the details, the project is a narrative where the lead character is put in a situation where they are forced to drive a semi-truck across the United States. Each print is a moment in time within the narrative, giving the viewer just glimpses into the entire story.
Below are two images he has been working on over the past week. Each of them concern the same "scene" in the overall narrative, although the bottom one will not be included in the project.
The (still in progress) image is a follow-up from the "Birdman of Athens, OH (2011)" giclee print he posted here not too long ago.
Originally, he was going to show what the man's face looked like, and place the figure within one of the photographs Blake took while in Athens... For a number of different reasons Blake thought that the image "just didn't work out" the way he wanted it to... although it might get recycled into something else in the future.
Now - the scene is the main character (of the narrative) interacting with some of the birds that managed to get loose. Blake is still tweaking the image; the figure will definitely stay in that awkward angle with birds flying overhead - although the sky and details of the birds might be edited / revised, and he needs to make sure all the color values are identical with the other prints that feature that person (especially details like the hair and the tones of blue in the coat)

Blake's New Prints
Blake has been meaning to post photos of these prints. They are all from his 'Truckdriver Series' - which still doesn't have a proper, final title btw. He finished them about two weeks ago in Glasgow before his big trip back to the States for vacation..

New drawings and a new friend
The top two drawings are new things by Zoe. The little monster at the bottom is a Blake and Zoe's new toy, which has a slot on the inside of his mouth perfect for holding zoe's ring.
