Blake did a mix!

Blake posted a mix on a few music webpages, and we thought we should share it here too.  Here's the info (as it was introduced on the other pages)

"Yea - it's been a WHILE since I have done any mixing
but, I got into a bit of a rut in the studio, and decided to do something non-drawing/ print related, and ended up with two short-ish mixes.  It's mostly just a lot of tracks I've always meant to use, and some random newer things that I really liked.  I just zipped them together into one file. Lemme know what you think... I'm contemplating actually trying to play somewhere out here in Glasgow, but I feel like I need to get into the swing of things again..."

The actual tracklistings are put into the "lyrics" section (using iTunes tags).  We're not posting the track lists here, just in case if a google-bot notices artist names, and thinks we're sharing illegal mp3's -> which we're not doing!

Foggy Christmas in Glasgow

Zoe Under Streetlight by Blake (2011)

Blake moving under a street light by Zoe Phillips (2011)

If you look closely, you can see Zoe

Zoe coming up from our back alley; taken by Blake

After eating too many Christmas sweets, Blake and Zoe felt compelled to go for an afternoon walkie. After the pair bundled up and went outside, they realized everything was coated in a thick layer of ice.  As soon as she got out the front door, Zoe slipped down the icy steps. Blake noticed the fog and decided the pair should at least take some pictures.  So the afternoon walk may not have happened - but at least they were productive!

Also - random fact, the idea behind "Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde" took its inspiration from a real-life person in Glasgow.

Colorful Christmas

Last night, after decorating our Christmas Tree (according to a little Scottish boy - it's the smallest, but second cutest tree in Glasgow) we made sugar cookies from scratch ( Thanks Martha! )

All of the ornaments were made from the leftover clay from Zoe's action figures.

Tutu and doll pantyhose: new action figure

This new action figure might be my favorite so far. He took the most amount of work anyways! Sewing action figure sized pantyhose is no easy feat.

Silly Silk Scarf

Here's a preview of some really awesome SILK scarves that Blake & Zoe printed a week ago, using the fabric printer at GSA. Zoe did the original character drawings, Blake did the coloring, and the two of them worked together to determine the patterning.

They haven't had a chance to cut them down yet, but they'll be available at some point in the near future.

The scarves incredibly soft and feel great against your skin.

Blake's NEW PRINTS

Blake has been keeping busy at the print studio at the GSA.

The first three are lithographs he printed using his own color separations (instead of having the computer producing them automatically.) The next two are digital prints of two other drawings (which may or may not become litho's -> but they are all intended to be a part of his "Truckdriver" Series)

UPDATE

The art auction was a success. Thank you to all of those in Glasgow who attended, and a special thank you to the patron who purchased Blake's piece

Blake and Zoe both have many new works to show, so keep an eye on this blog... There simply hasn't been enough time to get proper photographs of everything done yet.

Also, it doesn't help that Glasgow is in the middle of a "Snow-pocalypse" or an "Icy Hell" - depending on what newspapers you read. Although - honestly - it's nothing compared to Iowa City in January (...or February, come to think of it)

Another update in regards to the "Walky Talky Tour" ... so in case you've noticed Tumblr has been inconsistent with its service over the past few days - so the blogspot address is also being used for this project.

walkytalkytour.blogspot.com/

If you go there, you will be able to download the audio tour, look at some photographs, and watch a youtube clip* of the tour.

* I should say though, that if you watch the youtube video, you should put it on 'mute' and listen to the mp3. Also, the video was only intended as a piece of documentation for the project.

Glasgow Art Auction

So yea - I know I've already blogged about this...

but I think when it was originally mentioned - the site wasn't really "live" at the time

anyways, if you go back - they've finally put up works by all the other artists in the collection for the Glasgow School of Art Art Auction

Also - on an unrelated note; it seems that every time we upload images to Blogger - they're cut off... anyone have any idea how to fix this? Other than making the images insanely tiny... I mean, when I look at the blog now - it seems like we have massive amounts of space on either side of each post, but the posts themselves are quite narrow...

Other Cool Stuff

So - we're going to start to link to other blogs, as well as show our portfolio work...

Zoe just found out about this photographer/ designer this morning, and I immediately thought I should post it up here. So so cool...

What's He Building...? (part two)

Ok - so Blake's project won't be using the "blogspot" address

and it's live over here

Honestly - it coming together better than I thought it would.

We recorded the audio for the tour today, and took a few different video recordings as well.
Right now - there's just some photo's up so far, but the audio component should be really cool.

We lucked out and were able to score microphones that record in 3D. They have a sample on that site that sounds pretty cool. It only works if you listen on headphones, but that's also kind of the point for this project.

Basically - we want people to walk through the SECC Tunnel with their iPods/whatever and they should hear us giving anecdotal (and sometimes wrong) information about the place, what you see, etc

and it'll sound like you're in the middle of a group of people
