As Comfortable As A Wool Bikini (Photo Documentation)

The show has now officially closed, thank you to all the people that came!

If you didn't get a chance to drop by Studio 41 to see my + Zoe's "Lost Sheep" pieces, or Kyle Channing Smith's work - I thought I should share a few photo's featured in the installation, the intro for the show reel I made, and a fast walkthrough video...

I have more documentation of the show itself, but I need to confirm that I have permission to share the images of Kyle's work... so there might be another posting about the show later this week (including her pieces, photo's of the opening, and the works as installed at the location.)

Degree Show Documentation (Part 3 of 3)

Before we publish some photo's from "As Comfortable As A Wool Bikini" ... Here is the final set of photographs of my work at the MFA Degree Show

Pictured are excerpts from my print series 'It Was Real...'

(There are 20 images in the full set, with related sculptural pieces... transforming a 'set of images' into an 'installation piece' but size/ space constraints at the show made it impossible to show everything)

Each image is approximately 28 inches x 40 inches; printed in an edition of 10
[Some images available outside of the full series]

Degree Show Documentation (Part 2 of 3)

And here's part two...

"Chit Chat Tummy" by Blake Peterson & Zoe Phillips as installed at the Glue Factory, for the Glasgow School of Art MFA Degree Show.

The structure (approx. 6ft wide x 4 ft tall) is coated with day-glow, glow-in-the-dark, and 'night glow' acrylic paint, in addition to: latex body paint, krink, watercolor pigment, metallic ink, screen-printing ink, and various battery-powered LED lights.  Additional materials were used in the construction of the base.

The video was placed within the structure, rather than being placed on a plinth, in an attempt to actively engage the viewer.  One has to slightly bend at the waist in order to view the monitor, leading viewers to become subconsciously aware of their own stomach.

Degree Show Documentation (Part 1 of 3)

The Glasgow School of Art MFA Degree Show closes this weekend, so if you haven't checked it out yet... you're almost out of time!

I was able to stop in and take some photo's, and replace the (temperamental) batteries powering my LED's...

This piece was made from a plaster cast of my hand, with additional sculpture - it was then re-cast in clear plastic resin.
